Assistance Services

The National Religious Retirement Office (NRRO) maintains a network of consultants to assist religious communities in planning for retirement. Individuals trained especially in financial planning, eldercare, and communications with membership about retirement volunteer their services and also make recommendations for grant awards.

How Donations are Distributed

Brother Henry Sammon, FMS explains the NRRO grants and services to two of the sisters in attendance at an August 2008 gathering of Hispanic Sisters in Chicago.

NRRO generates a Retirement Needs Analysis that calculates the retirement need based on a religious community's demographics, current cost of care, and assets available for retirement. The Census Projection uses current statistics to project census for 12 years based on the William M. Mercer Mortality Tables for members of religious communities.

NRRO sponsors and co-sponsors workshops on emerging trends in elder care; such as government programs, resources for retirement planning, and building or renovating for retirement care, among others.

Since 1988, NRRO has become a significant source of data about the status of religious life in the United States.
